BMC Ellis ''Pete'' R. Eckley, USN, Ret. June 10, 1934 - January 24, 2002

BMC Ellis R. ''Pete'' Eckley, USN, Ret., 67, of Virginia Beach died on January 24, 2002 in his home.

Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Viola Eckley. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and served during Vietnam. He also retired from Norshipco as a rigger and as a gunsmith with Bob's Gun Shop.

Mr. Eckley was a member of the George W. Wright Masonic Lodge #346, was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite, the V.F.W. #4809 where he was a past post and district commander. He was also a past seamsquirrel M.O.C. and past 4th supreme district council member in the M.O.C.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eleanor Sue Eckley; six children, Richard Eckley of Norfolk, Cheryl Stevenson of Virginia Beach, Pam Case of Norfolk, David Eckley of Virginia Beach, Princess Hepner of Chesapeake and Thomas Eckley of Norfolk; five sisters and one brother, Lois Gieremanski, Florence Augustin, Twilla Janiel and Charlotte Johns, all of New Castle, Pennsylvania and Charles Eckley of Youngstown, Ohio and Effie Cortez of Davis, Florida; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A funeral service will be held in Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel, on Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 12:00pm. Burial with full military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

ROBERT L. STEVENSON SR. 1923-1995

ROBERT L. STEVENSON SR. Robert L. Stevenson, 72, of 12524 Pittsfield A, died Sept. 23, 1995. He was a native of Cranston, R.I., and he was a Catholic. He was formerly of Norfolk, Va., until he moved to Tampa, Fla., in 1985. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer for the U.S. Navy, where he worked for 22 years. Mr. Stevenson was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association (NU)60, and the Boy Scout Master Troop 25, Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Moryto Stevenson, and father, Guy Stevenson. He is survived by his wife, Winifred E. Stevenson; two daughters, Judy Joyner of Virginia Beach, and Janet Moore of Norfolk; five sons, Robert L. Stevenson Jr. and Randall J. Stevenson, both of Chesapeake, Paul A. Stevenson of Portsmouth, and James M.Stevenson of Monterey, Va., and Richard J. Stevenson, of Suffolk; one sister, Barbara Milburn of Downey, Calif.; one brother, Sam Grayson of Cumberland, R.I.; twenty-one grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Garland Hines in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach. The family will remain in the funeral home Wednesday evening until 8:30 p.m.

SUFFOLK - Robert Louis Stevenson Jr., 52, of Indian Trail, died June 6, 2002, in a Hampton hospital.

A native of Norfolk, Mr. Stevenson was a son of Winifred Greene Stevenson of Chesapeake and the late Robert L. Stevenson Sr. He was currently employed as an auto mechanic and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Stevenson III and wife, Mary Ann of Norfolk and Christopher M. Stevenson of Portsmouth; two sisters, Judy Joyner of Virginia Beach and Janet Moore of Norfolk; four [Brothers, Randall J. Stevenson of Chesapeake, Paul A. Winifred E. Stevenson 8/15/1923 - 8/9/2006

    Winifred Elizabeth Stevenson, 82, of the 500 block of McLean St, died Aug. 9, 2006, in her residence.  A native of Providence, R.I., she was a retired registered nurse ands she was a Catholic.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Louis Stevenson Sr. and her son, Robert Louis Jr.
    Survivors include two daughters, Judy Joyner and husband Ron of Virginia Beach and Janet Moore of Norfolk; four sons, Paul Stevenson and wife Margie of Portsmouth, Jim Stevenson and wife Lucy of Monterey, Va., Randy Stevenson of Chesapeake and Rich Stevenson and wife Betty of Driver, Va.; a sister, Dorthy McKellips of Las Vegas, Nev.; 20 grand children; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
    A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetary.  Memorial donations maybe made to Bon Secours Hospice or a charity of choice.  The family would like to thank Bon Secours Hospice.

VIRGINIA BEACH - Robert James Woodruff, 41, died Aug. 25, 1998.
Mr. Woodruff was an animal lover, especially cats, and an avid fisherman. He was always a very helpful person to his family and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Robert Woodruff and a brother, Michael Edward Woodruff. Survivors include his mother, Irene S. Woodruff; a grandfather, Joseph Towell; uncle, Herman Sawyer; aunt and uncle, Curtis and Jenny Twiford; cousins, Wendy and John Hoskins, Don Sawyer, Teresa and Jennifer
